About The Imperial Court of Los Angeles and Hollywood
The Imperial Court of Los Angeles & Hollywood is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, whose primary goals are to further relationships with organizations and businesses within the TLGBQ community, to raise money for charitable organizations, and to help those in its community who are in need – all while having a lot of fun.
Los Angeles & Hollywood’s chapter of the Imperial Court was founded in 1970 and one of 68 “courts” in an international organization, with chapters in most cities in the United States and Canada, along with a chapter in Mexico, making it one of the largest TLGBQ organizations in the world. The Imperial Court system was given its start in San Francisco in 1965 by legendary founder Jose Julia Sarria, the self-proclaimed “Empress of San Francisco.”
The Los Angeles & Hollywood Imperial Court has an exceptional reputation for social service work for the LGBTQ community, as well as the community at large, its volunteers represent a diverse cross-section of society. The Imperial Court of Los Angeles & Hollywood is one of the most enduring and dynamic organizations in Los Angeles County, and the longtime sponsor of the Queen USA Pageant.
